Dangers: Strainers and floating debris. Trees sometimes laying completely across the river. Be sure to scout blind turns to watch for these obstacles

The Blue River is probably the most popular local run for Kansas City Boaters. I have personally ran this river numerous times, from 6 ft to 13 ft on the gauge.

The best I had seen it was the day we put in at 13 feet but was dropping. It was about 7 feet when we took off the river.

Different Levels provide different play opportunity. Some of the rapids are the Trestle Wave (good at lower levels), Powerline, Three Humps and Ford Hole. I have seen Ford Hole anywhere from a Big Kahuna Wave to more of a spin hole to washed out and flat.

The river wide Surf Rapid has become very trashy with trees and debris, and we have been taking out before that rapid lately.
